Huma Qureshi on Playing Gray Characters


Actress huma qureshi is currently in the spotlight for her performance in “Delhi Crime 3.”


She plays a negative, gray-shaded character, and has openly shared her thoughts about portraying such roles.


Following the success of “Maharani 4” and now “Delhi Crime 3,” Huma continues to dominate the OTT space..


The actress said she received suggestions and encouragement from colleagues to take on darker roles.


Asked to Play a Negative Character.


Speaking to PTI, Huma explained her comfort with complex characters:


“I’ve played characters that are gray, and I enjoy lighter grays. 

But this one is dark… as dark as can be, and also brilliant.”


She revealed that her co-workers encouraged her to play evil characters, and she took it a.s a compliment.


Huma expressed joy in exploring the psychological layers of morally ambiguous characters.


Efforts to Keep the Character Real


Huma shared that the team carefully considered every detail to ensure the character felt real:


“We thought about the choices we made—whether it was using Haryanvi, because we wanted to make him a very real person, not a cardboard movie villain.”


The emphasis was on authenticity rather than exaggeration..


Huma’s Preparation Method


Huma said she feels fortunate that she doesn’t need an elaborate environment or mood to get into character.


She prepares by:

Observing 10 seconds of silence before each shot.


Doing extensive homework, including reading the script multiple times.


She added:


“Between action and cut, I surrender to the moment without trying to stop myself.”


About ‘Delhi Crime’ Season 3


Directed by Tanuj Chopra, the series features Huma as Meena (Badi Didi), a powerful figure in a human trafficking network.


The cast includes Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, and Rajesh Tailang.


The series released on Netflix on november 13.
