The interesting aspect is that Virbhadra Singh never contested from Rampur seat, as it is lightly reserved for Scheduled Castes.Nand Lal of congress has been the mla of this seat for the last 15 years.No bjp candidate has been able to give a tough fight to Nand Lal because of Virbhadra Singh's enthusiasm.Prior to this, Singhi ram of congress has been mla from this seat for seven consecutive terms from 1982 to 2007.This seat went to the Janata party in the year 1977.In the year 1990, when the anti-Congress and bjp wave was going on in the whole country, even at that time bjp had to face defeat in this seat.All efforts of bjp to plant lotus on this seat have been unsuccessful so far.
The bjp has entered the fray with a new strategy for the assembly elections to be held this time.Under this, bjp has played bets on Kaul Negi, the young face who started the journey of politics from student organization ABBP.The BJP-ruled Jairam government of the state has strengthened his political stature by appointing Kaul Singh Negi as the President of himachal pradesh State Co-operative Development Federation Limited.For some time now, Kaul Negi has been quite active in the light and has made a good inroads in the youth.In such a situation, with the help of Kaul Negi, bjp is preparing to feed lotus here for the first time.The congress party also does not want to leave any stone unturned to return to power

In 1951, Bhagat ram of congress won from Rampur for the first time.After that Hardayal Singh and Nekram Negi of congress became MLAs from here.In the year 1977, Nijju ram was elected mla in the Janata party wave.For the first time in 1982, Singhi ram of congress won from here.His winning streak continued till 2003.Singhi ram was mla from Rampur for the maximum number of times.
