Now the indian Navy has two aircraft carriers INS Vikrant and INS vikramaditya built in Russia, which can protect the maritime border at two ends of the country.

Along with this, preparations have also started to build another indigenous aircraft carrier for the Navy. According to media reports, this second indigenous aircraft carrier may be named INS vishal and will weigh around 65,000 tonnes. Its design will be similar to the queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier of the british Navy.

A report of the parliamentary committee was tabled in the lok sabha in march this year as well. This report had a table detailing something like this - a written note on the details of the procurement plan for the year 2022-23 for the indian Navy. In this table, there was mention of the purchase of indigenous Aircraft Carrier-2 and Multi-Role Carrier Born Fighters (MRCBF). Even if approved today, construction will be done in 10 years

Even if the indian Navy gets the approval for the second Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) today, it will still take about 10 years for the Navy to get it. The time taken for construction and testing is based on the experience of the first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, which took about 17 years to reach the indian Navy after approval.
