It is critical to understand the predominance of wealthy MLAs inside the state's political parties as the telangana assembly elections get closer. According to a research by telangana Election watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), 106 of the 119 MLAs elected in the 2018 telangana assembly elections were crorepatis. This information was obtained by evaluating the self-sworn affidavits of every MLAs.  This suggests that the majority of elected MLAs—around 89%—were rich people.

The investigation also disclosed that 83 of the 88 MLAs who were candidates for the trs (now BRS) party were crorepatis. This suggests that the vast majority of the BRS MLAs chosen in 2018 hailed from wealthy families. 14 of the 19 indian national congress (INC) candidates that won mla seats in 2018 were from the party's crorepati slate. Even while the proportion is somewhat lower than the BRS, it still shows that there are a lot of rich people in the party.

Seven MLAs belong to the All india Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), a strong political force in Telangana. At the time of the 2018 assembly elections, five of them were crorepati. Out of all 119 candidates, Munugode Constituency candidate Kometireddy Rajgopal reddy, who ran for assembly in 2018 on a congress ticket, came out on top as the wealthiest legislator. His overall wealth was around 314 crore at the time. Syed ahmed Pasha Quadri, an AIMIM mla from Yakutpura, had the least amount of assets, coming in at little over 19 lakh.
