There is an increase in traffic at hyderabad airport, Telangana's sole operating airport that serves both local and international travelers. Data from the Airports Authority of india (AAI) website shows that in only one year, the number of passengers using the airport, formally known as rajiv gandhi international airport (RGIA), has dramatically grown. 1,697,151 domestic and 339,177 international travelers passed through the airport in the last month, a huge increase over the 1,363,257 domestic and 277,514 international travelers recorded in august 2022.


Advisory Issued
A warning was recently issued by hyderabad airport since the city was celebrating Milad un Nabi and Ganesh Visarjan. The warning was sent in advance of an increase in airport passenger traffic. It recommended travelers schedule their trips appropriately since they could have to wait longer to and from the airport owing to the increase in foot traffic.

Hyderabad likely to join the list of cities with two airports
Due to the increase in travelers using RGIA, the telangana government had previously suggested building a second airport in the area. The government intends to ask the center for approval to utilize the Hakimpet military airport for civil aviation. This issue will soon be discussed with the Ministry of Defence. hyderabad would join the group of cities with two commercial airports if the plan is completed. •  Istanbul, Turkey
•  Glasgow, UK.
