As the SHO of Uppal, B. sravan kumar, a former station house officer in Trimulgherry who was arrested by the acb for allegedly demanding a bribe, has been assigned. Following R. govinda Reddy's removal, Rachakonda police Commissioner D.S. Chauhan issued orders to that effect on Sunday.

Sravan Kumar was caught up in the acb investigation in July when it was claimed that he asked a professional shooter for a bribe in exchange for renewing the latter's firearms permit. Later, he was suspended and turned over his services to the hyderabad range. Sources claim that the acb finished its investigation into the issue and sent a report to the state government asking for approval to prosecute sravan kumar, as is required of public employees under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The government has not yet approved the request.

The acb filed a complaint against B. sravan kumar, SHO Trimulgherry, earlier that month for allegedly requesting a bribe from a professional shooter in exchange for renewing the latter's firearms licence. On Tuesday, acb investigators carried out a search and presented sravan with a notice in accordance with Section 41A of the CrPC. The gunman, a secunderabad resident, carried a DBBL firearm with a permit that will expire in february 2023. The DCP (North) received his application for a licence renewal.

Sravan was given the application by DCP with instructions to research it, submit his comments, and return it within a week. However, sravan has been putting off processing the file. sravan allegedly asked for Rs 30,000 on one of his most recent trips to the police station in order to process it. After some haggling, he settled on Rs 20,000. On his mobile device, the victim recorded the entire discussion on video.
