In 189 days, the telangana police used the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) site to retrieve up to 10,018 misplaced cell phones. In the previous 14 days, 1000 of the total were found and returned to their owners. This explains the recovery rate of 39%. telangana ranked best in the nation with this percentage for recovering lost cell phones, followed by karnataka (36%) and andhra pradesh (30%) in second and third place, respectively.

CEIR Portal
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) created the CEIR Portal in an effort to combat the threat of mobile theft and fake devices. The site was first introduced on a trial basis in telangana on april 19, 2023, and was formally released across the country on May 17, 2023. The site is now in use in all 780 PSs of Telangana's police Units, where the state's ADG and CID keep an eye on the development of the CEIR's activity.

In telangana, the Cyberabad Commissionerate leads the way with 1428 mobile devices, followed by the hyderabad Commissionerate with 1206, the Rachakonda Commissionerate with 912, and warangal and kamareddy with 106. In an effort to improve the TS police Citizen Portal's usability and better serve the state's residents, law enforcement officials have urged people to use this service rather than going to Mee Seva or police stations to report lost or stolen mobile devices.
