It is followed by the United States. india ranks 10th globally in terms of patents and 8th globally in terms of trademarks. The Patents Act 1970 and the Patent Rules 2023 are the frameworks for patents in India. The speed and transparency of processing, review and cancellation of patent applications has increased due to recent changes in the rules. The number of patents examined was around 23 thousand in 2014-15, but it has increased to over 80 thousand in 2019-20, the statistics say. This number is constantly increasing.
