The supreme court, while giving an important decision on tuesday (February 20), declared aam aadmi party (AAP) councilor kuldeep Kumar as the Mayor of Chandigarh. delhi Chief minister and AAP national coordinator arvind kejriwal has reacted to this decision.

arvind kejriwal said, "Kuldeep Kumar is a boy from a poor family. On behalf of india alliance, many congratulations on becoming the Mayor of Chandigarh. This became possible only because of indian democracy and the Honorable supreme Court. We have to preserve the impartiality of our democracy and autonomous institutions under any circumstances.

Meanwhile, punjab Chief minister Bhagwant Mann said that ultimately truth has prevailed. We welcome the decision of the supreme court regarding the mayor elections in Chandigarh. Upholding the 8 votes rejected by the presiding officer, the CJI declared AAP's kuldeep Kumar as mayor. They have got a befitting reply to the hooliganism openly committed by BJP. Many congratulations to the people of chandigarh on this big victory of democracy.

AAP's rajya sabha MP Raghav Chadha said that Satyamev Jayate! Today, the historic decision of the Honorable supreme court has protected the pillar of democracy in india – free and fair elections. The Honorable supreme court declared the AAP Mayor candidate the winner in the chandigarh Mayor election after treating 8 'invalid' ballot papers as valid and directing recounting of the votes. This decision is a victory for India's democracy, a victory for the power of people's vote. Let us tell you that the results of chandigarh Mayor elections were declared on january 30. bjp candidate Manoj Sonkar had won this election. He got 16 votes. He defeated AAP and congress candidate kuldeep Kumar. Kumar got 12 votes.

Anil Masih, who was the presiding officer during the elections, declared eight votes invalid. With this the uproar started. AAP and congress released videos and made allegations of rigging. The matter reached the supreme Court. Now the supreme court has declared eight votes valid.
