BMC given notice to remove the hoarding 2 weeks ago...

A tragic incident has happened in Ghatkopar area of Mumbai. 14 people died and 74 were injured when a big hoarding collapsed. Now the statement of bjp leader Kirit Somaiya has come out on this incident. bjp leader Kirit Somaiya had written a letter to BMC a few days ago complaining about the illegal hoardings put up in Ghatkopar. After this, BMC had also given notice to EGO media, but before any action could be taken, a major accident happened yesterday. 14 people have died so far in this accident. Kirit Somaiya will also hold a press conference on this today.

More than 100 people were initially trapped after a 100-foot tall illegal billboard collapsed on a petrol pump, following which a search and rescue operation began. According to media reports, the name of the hoarding owner has been stated as Bhavesh Bhide. It is being told that this hoarding was installed without the permission of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The incident took place near Chheda nagar Gymkhana in Ghatkopar area. This accident happened amidst rain and strong winds.

BMC has said that the hoarding was illegal as it did not have a license. In response to this incident, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner has been asked to conduct a special audit of all hoardings in Mumbai. The chief minister has also announced an initial compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased.

Meanwhile, President draupadi murmu and Vice President jagdeep dhankhar expressed condolences to the people who lost their lives in the incident in Ghatkopar, mumbai and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the falling hoarding.
