
The election of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of delhi (MCD) concluded on Thursday. satya Sharma of the bharatiya janata party (BJP) won as the Chairman of the Standing Committee by securing 11 votes. Her rival praveen Kumar of the aam aadmi party (AAP) got seven votes. On the other hand, Sundar Singh of bjp won the post of Vice Chairman by defeating mohini Jinwal of AAP. Sundar Singh got 11 and mohini Jinwal got seven votes. All 18 members of the Standing Committee exercised their franchise.
Mayor congratulated satya Sharma and Sundar Singh
The election process was monitored by Mayor raja Iqbal Singh as the presiding officer. Congratulating the newly elected Chairman satya Sharma and Vice Chairman Sundar Singh, the Mayor said, "With the formation of the Standing Committee, we will all together establish new dimensions of development of Delhi. I hope that the members of the committee will work together for the development of the city."
After the election, satya Sharma expressed his gratitude to all the members and supporters. He said, "In the last two and a half years, development work in delhi remained stalled, but now we will work rapidly in a positive direction. Our aim is to make delhi clean, beautiful and prosperous. We appeal to all parties for cooperation in this direction. Improving infrastructure and civic amenities is a challenge for all of us and we hope that we will succeed in it."
