Bengaluru's Namma Metro is set to expand its network with the upcoming pink Line, which will connect to the indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B). This development follows the completion of the Yellow Line and is planned to open in two phases by september 2026. The first phase will feature a 7.5-kilometer elevated route from Tavarekere to Kalena Agrahara, expected to be operational by march 2026.
The pink Line's elevated section will run along Bannerghatta Road and is anticipated to be completed in march 2026. Additionally, the line will include a 13.76-kilometer underground section connecting Dairy Circle to Nagavara, the longest subterranean stretch in the city, passing through significant intersections such as MG Road, Shivajinagar, and Tannery Road.
While the Namma Metro network does not directly connect to the IIM Bangalore campus, the pink Line will provide access through the IIMB station located near Fortis Hospital in Bilekahalli. This elevated station is designed to serve IIM-B and surrounding areas, enhancing connectivity for students and faculty.
According to officials from the Bangalore Metro rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the civil work for the elevated section has been completed, with track laying and system installation currently in progress for both the elevated and underground segments. Additionally, the BMRCL reports significant advancements on the 58.19-kilometer Blue Line, which will connect Silk Board Junction to Kempegowda international Airport. This line comprises a 19.75-kilometer stretch from Silk Board Junction to KR Pura as part of Phase 2A, and a 38.44-kilometer segment from KR Pura to the airport under Phase 2B.
Overall, these developments are set to significantly enhance Bengaluru's public transportation infrastructure, providing residents with improved connectivity and accessibility.
