Bengaluru is set to experience cloudy skies, light rain, and gusty winds this weekend, as the india Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next 36 hours. Residents are advised to exercise caution, as adverse weather conditions could lead to traffic disruptions and waterlogging across the city.

Over the next 24 hours, the Bengaluru Meteorological Centre predicts mostly cloudy skies with light rain expected in various areas. The maximum temperature will be around 26°C, while the minimum may drop to 20°C, providing a relatively cool atmosphere.

Looking ahead to the next 48 hours, light rain is anticipated on Monday, august 18th, with wind speeds increasing to between 30 and 40 km/h. The IMD warns that even brief heavy rain could result in traffic jams, uprooted trees, and waterlogging in low-lying regions.

Recent heavy rainfall has already wreaked havoc in Bengaluru, causing significant damage. Reports indicate that three fatalities occurred due to fallen trees, while nearly 878 roads spanning over 343 km have been rendered unusable. Over 1,114 homes have also been impacted by the rain, with Bommanahalli being one of the worst-affected areas.

In response, the BBMP is providing compensation to affected families and implementing preventive measures, such as building protective walls along storm drains. Work has been completed at 169 out of 218 identified vulnerable spots.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, stay away from waterlogged areas, and seek shelter during thunderstorms. Fishermen along the karnataka coast are warned against venturing into the sea due to squally weather. Overall, residents should stay prepared as Bengaluru braces for a rainy weekend.
