New Delhi, In a significant move to decongest one of South Delhi’s busiest routes, the Public Works Department (PWD) has announced plans to conduct a feasibility study for a new flyover on Sant Shri baba Nagpalji (SSN) Marg in Chhatarpur. The initiative aims to streamline traffic flow towards Gurugram and indira gandhi International (IGI) Airport, reducing travel time for commuters.

Key Details of the Project

  • Location: The proposed flyover will be constructed on SSN Marg, a critical artery in Chhatarpur that connects to major highways leading to Gurugram and IGI Airport.
  • Objective: To alleviate congestion caused by heavy daily traffic, especially during peak hours, and provide a smooth transit route for commuters and airport travelers.
  • Feasibility Study: Officials confirmed that the PWD has initiated a detailed feasibility study, which will include traffic analysis, structural planning, environmental assessment, and cost estimation before final approvals and construction begin.

Expected Benefits

Reduced Travel Time: Commuters traveling towards Gurugram or the airport are likely to see significant reductions in travel duration once the flyover is operational.

Decongested Roads: By diverting through-traffic from ground-level intersections, the flyover will ease congestion in residential and commercial areas along SSN Marg.

Enhanced Safety: Elevated roads help minimize accidents and pedestrian-vehicle conflicts, improving overall road safety.

Timeline

The project is currently in the preliminary planning and study phase. Once the feasibility report is completed and approved, construction could begin in early 2026, depending on land acquisition and environmental clearances.

This initiative reflects Delhi’s ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and improve connectivity for its growing population and increasing commuter traffic towards neighboring cities.
