When questioned what will transpire in Peacemaker season 2, john Cena has a humorous reaction. Season 1 of Peacemaker just ended on HBO Max, bringing in a massive amount of viewers and setting a new record for the most views in a single day for an HBO Max original series. Just a day before the conclusion, the streamer confirmed a renewal for the programme, with writer/director james Gunn slated to take on an even bigger role in season 2 by scriptwriting and shaping each episode.

Peacemaker debuted in james Gunn's feature picture The Suicide Squad, which was released in theatres and on HBO Max in 2021. Initially, Peacemaker was killed off in the film, but while on lockdown during the epidemic, Gunn penned a Peacemaker series and pitched it to HBO when questioned if he had any spinoff concepts. Cena, who began his acting career in the WWE, has gained a lot of traction in the previous year with films like The Suicide Squad, the Peacemaker trilogy, and F9: The Fast Saga.

Cena was queried about what to anticipate in Peacemaker season 2 in a post-finale interview with Reuters, to which the star jokingly stated that he had nothing to do with any of the selections that would constitute the next season. Cena returns the favour on Gunn, the show's principal architect, calling him the "madman" behind the show's craziness. Finally, Cena claims he has no responsibility for any of the show's decisions, including the easter Eggs and cameos set up in the climax.
