Antonia Salib, who starred in moon Knight, had no idea she was auditioning for a role as a hippo in Marvel Studios' new Disney+ series. oscar Isaac stars as Marc Spector and Steven Grant, two alters inside a Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) system who share the same body in the most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe series. Marc, a mercenary alter, forged a life-saving deal with Khonshu, the Egyptian moon deity (voiced by F. Murray Abraham). Arthur Harrow is played by Ethan Hawke, Anton Mogart is played by the late Gaspard Ulliel, and Layla El-Faouly is played by May Calamawy.

Harrow shoots Marc/Steven in the chest in "The Tomb," and the two wake up in a psychiatric institution, where their ally Layla is a patient and the malevolent Harrow is their doctor. If that wasn't enough to throw viewers off, the episode concludes with the appearance of a larger-than-life hippopotamus. This friendly hippopotamus reveals herself to be Taweret, the Egyptian goddess of mothers and children in charge of guiding souls through Duat and onto the Field of Reeds—as long as their hearts are balanced when weighed against the feather of Maat. Marc/Steven relives horrific experiences in this episode, as Taweret tries to help. Now, Salib has spoken up about auditioning for the role of the hippopotamus, which has become a fan favourite.

In an interview with Marvel, Salib discussed the moon Knight audition process and how the part came as a complete surprise to him. Salib didn't know what character or project she was auditioning for, but she knew it was massive, as is the case with pretty much anything Marvel.
