Until Ms. Marvel episode 1, which has an easter egg that doesn't exactly make sense, the MCU dodged a major Captain Marvel costume gaffe. Carol Danvers first appeared in comic books as a US air Force officer who collaborated with the Kree hero Mar-Vell, before being turned into the superhero Ms. Marvel in 1977. Much of Captain Marvel's past has been omitted from the MCU, with Brie Larson's character adopting her present identity right away.

Carol Danvers' original superhero suit was likewise wisely avoided by Marvel Studios. With her bare midriff, back, and long legs on display, it was an homage to Mar- Vell's, albeit excessively sexualized. The Ms. Marvel attire appears to have been enforced in part by editorial fiat, with artist Dave Cockrum in particular dissatisfied, sketching a clearly NSF birthday sketch of Ms. Marvel for editor Jim Shooter and quickly switching it. Marvel Studios wisely avoided all of this, opting instead for a more modern suit as inspiration.

This "Arctic equator" outfit was never worn by Ms. Marvel in the MCU, therefore it doesn't logically belong in this shared reality. The reasonable assumption is that Kamala Khan designed it herself in the MCU, picturing her favourite superhero wearing it, but that would be out of character. After all, Kamala is a teenage girl whose ideal cosplay is the bulkier armor-like ensemble she wears to AvengerCon. It's a minor easter egg, and most viewers are unlikely to notice it. However, the inclusion of this particular Ms. Marvel costume highlights a larger issue with easter eggs: they must be carefully picked to avoid breaking the shared world idea.
