Swiggy, zomato 15 days deadline..!?

In the current age of technology, we see that everyone wants to order online and people are getting everything from groceries to electronics online. But at the same time, there are complaints that companies selling online are imposing various indirect charges on consumers, including delivery charges. The meeting was chaired by Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh yesterday. At this meeting, some guidelines were given to online food delivery companies including swiggy and Zomato. Thousands of complaints have been lodged against swiggy and zomato over the past 12 months and it has been advised that these companies should openly inform consumers of the veracity of delivery and packaging charges.
The meeting was also advised that online delivery companies must make it clear to consumers what the price of the food item to be ordered is if it is the right of a hotel. Also, the packing and delivery charges for a particular meal must be the same as the packing and delivery charges for each item? It has also been announced that consumers should be informed. The Federal Ministry of Consumer Affairs has pointed out to e-commerce companies that e-commerce companies are not responding to these complaints. There is a big discrepancy between the food lists of items mentioned in the hotel and the e-commerce companies' menus. At the meeting, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs explained that it is important for e-commerce companies to answer consumer questions and complaints and to explain how companies are going to address consumer grievances. And the news that the federal government has sent out notices about complaints against a few e-commerce companies has caused great excitement among food buyers. The Department of Consumer Affairs has advised e-commerce companies to resolve complaints raised against online delivery companies within 15 days.
They have already seen that the consumer sector has taken various measures to protect the welfare of consumers over the past few months and the fact that restaurants are being asked not to force service charges on restaurants has advised that diners at the hotel are not required to pay service charges. It is noteworthy that consumers who use e-commerce companies are now happy with these constructive steps taken by the federal government.
