More than 5 lakh returns have been filed between 5 pm to 6 pm and 4.67 lakh returns between 12 pm and 1 pm. More than 57.51 lakh returns were filed on July 30, 43 lakh on July 29, and more than 36 lakh on July 28. So a total of 5.54 crore people have filed income tax across the country.It has already been said that those who do not file before the due date will be penalized. Accordingly, from today, those with an annual income of Rs.5 lakh and above will pay a penalty of Rs.5,000, and those with annual income below Rs.5 lakh will pay a penalty of Rs.1,000 and file income tax by december 31.If the return is filed after december 31st, interest will be charged at 1 percent per month. It is to be noted that taxpayers who furnish ITR after the deadline specified under the IT Act will not be eligible to carry forward their loss under any head.
