WhatsApp’s Call Waiting feature lets you see and respond to incoming whatsapp calls even when you’re already on another whatsapp call — giving you more control compared with older behavior where a second call would just fail or get missed.

🟢 What the Call Waiting Feature Does

Before this feature, if someone called you on whatsapp while you were already on a voice or video call, the second call simply didn’t connect — and you’d only see a missed call later. With Call Waiting:

✔ If you’re on a whatsapp call and another whatsapp call comes in, you get a screen alert for the incoming call.
✔ You can choose to either:

  • End & Accept the incoming call — this hangs up your current call and connects the new one, or
  • Decline the incoming call and stay on your ongoing call.

This works for both voice and video calls if the app is updated. Unlike traditional mobile call waiting, you cannot put callers on hold or switch back and forth — you must choose one call or the other.

📲 How to Use Call Waiting on WhatsApp

1. Update WhatsApp

Make sure you’re using the latest version of whatsapp on your phone (Android or iPhone). Call Waiting was rolled out in versions like 2.19.352 and above for Android, and similar recent updates for iOS.

2. When You’re on a Call

If someone tries to call you while you’re already in a whatsapp call:

  • The incoming caller’s name or number will appear on your screen.
  • You’ll see two buttons:
    • 🔴 Decline — ignore the new call and remain on your current call.
    • 🟢 End & Accept — hang up your ongoing call and pick up the new one.

3. What Happens Next

Once you pick one option:

  • If you Decline, the new caller gets a missed call notification later.
  • If you End & Accept, the previous call ends immediately and the new one connects.

🤔 Important Things to Know

📌 No Multi‑Call Hold: Unlike regular phone networks, whatsapp doesn’t let you hold one call and switch — you can only choose one at a time.

📌 Works on Internet Calls: The feature applies to whatsapp voice and video calls — not phone carrier calls. If a regular call comes in while you’re on whatsapp, your phone may behave differently based on your device’s settings.

📌 Available When Updated: If you don’t see this option, make sure whatsapp is updated from the google Play Store or apple App Store.

🧠 Why This Feature Matters

Before Call Waiting, you could easily miss an important call while already talking to someone. Now, whatsapp notifies you and lets you decide whether to accept or reject a second call — similar to how it works with normal phone calls, but optimized for the whatsapp calling experience.

In short: WhatsApp’s Call Waiting feature improves your calling experience by showing incoming call alerts during another call and letting you choose Accept or Decline, even though it doesn’t support holding multiple calls at once.
