The Unique Identification Authority of india (UIDAI) has recently revised the fee for ordering a PVC Aadhaar card, making it costlier for residents. This change affects anyone who wants to get a physical, durable version of their Aadhaar card.
What Is a PVC Aadhaar Card?
A PVC Aadhaar card is a polished, plastic version of your regular Aadhaar card. Unlike the paper-based Aadhaar letter, the PVC version:
- Is durable and water-resistant
- Can fit in your wallet easily
- Features a secure QR code for verification
- Looks more like a professional ID card
This card is especially useful for official document verification or for daily identification needs.
Revised Fee for PVC Aadhaar Card
- Old Price: ₹50
- New Price (from january 2026): ₹75
The increase comes due to rising production and mailing costs. The fee applies to all online orders via the uidai portal or the mAadhaar mobile app.
How to Apply for a PVC Aadhaar Card Online
Visit UIDAI’s official website: https://uidai.gov.in
Go to “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” under My Aadhaar Services
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID
Verify via OTP sent to your registered mobile number
Make the payment of ₹75 online using debit/credit card or UPI
Confirm your address for delivery
Once processed, the PVC Aadhaar card is delivered to your registered address within 15–20 days.
Why the Price Increase?
The uidai cited rising production, packaging, and delivery costs as the reason behind the price hike. The PVC card comes with enhanced security features such as:
- Hologram
- Secure QR code
- Lamination
These features make the card more durable and tamper-proof, justifying the price increase.
Key Benefits of Using PVC Aadhaar Over Regular Paper Copy
- Long-lasting and durable
- More professional appearance for official use
- QR code ensures faster verification
- Can be carried conveniently in wallets
Bottom Line
From January 2026, anyone ordering a PVC Aadhaar card will need to pay ₹75 instead of ₹50. While the increase may seem small, it reflects the better durability, security, and convenience that the PVC Aadhaar card provides.
