Bengaluru sources stated that India’s tax structure is unfair to luxury car makers that want to make big investment here. Meanwhile despite that, the German automaker will continue to invest here, with its focus now turning to products in the volume segment.



Meanwhile Audi’s country’s brand head, Rahil Ansari, told the company is changing its product strategy in India, as it seeks to recapture the top spot in the local luxury vehicle market, which it lost in 2015 and is now placed at the third spot behind Mercedes-Benz and BMW. He said “So far, he have been busy in cleaning up and putting things in order,” further adding the effect of that would now start reflecting in Audi’s performance. He also said “In order to gain customer base, we will introduce products in the volume segment, below A3 and Q3, in the next two-three years".

Moreover the company aims to introduce at least one product in the SUV, sedan and hatchback categories to cater to volume segment. Furthermore there has been a strong rumor on it launching the Q2 SUV, but Ansari refrained from giving any further details on the product plan. Currently Mercedes-Ben sells premium hatchbacks, the A class and B Class, in India.
