The Marvel Cinematic Universe's continuity has once again been ruined by the Smart Hulk announcement. In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Mark Ruffalo returned as Bruce Banner, who combined both of his egos to become Smart Hulk. The most recent Marvel Disney+ series has ties to the MCU as a whole, but with each new project, it appears to be getting more difficult to keep the timeline in sync.

Jennifer Walters, an attorney who becomes She-Hulk after her blood unintentionally mixes with Bruce Banner's, is introduced in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. She-plot Hulk's roughly follows the MCU's timeline because it takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and during Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings. One aspect of Smart Hulk, though, doesn't seem to add up at all. Bruce appears in She-first Hulk's episode while still sporting a sling over his damaged arm from when Smart Hulk used the Infinity Gauntlet to undo the effects of Thanos' snap in Avengers: Endgame.

Banner makes an appearance in human form in the post-credits scene of Shang-Chi. The burn from his time using the Infinity Stones is still clearly visible on his arm, which is still severely damaged. The fact that his arm had healed and his inhibitor was destroyed before he faced Wong in the underground fight club makes it impossible for Smart Hulk to still be in human form and damaged in that particular scene. Due to his inhibitor having been damaged in the vehicle crash that transformed Jen, Banner would have truly appeared as Smart Hulk in Shang-Chi if the MCU had adhered to the timeline of events.
