When did the controversy over BBC Documentary start?

The BBC made a documentary 'India: The Modi Question' on the 2002 gujarat riots. Gujarat's chief minister at the time was current prime minister Narendra Modi. BBC made this documentary in two parts. Its first episode was released on 17 january and the second episode on 24 january 2023 on YouTube. With the release of the first episode, a controversy started about it. The leaders of the opposition had started besieging PM Modi through this documentary.

In the BBC documentary, questions have been raised about prime minister Narendra Modi's tenure in Gujarat. When he served as Gujarat's chief minister in 2002, riots broke out. 

In this riot, almost 2,000 people were slain.

The central government had banned

After this, bjp also started a counterattack and called BBC's 'India: The Modi Question' documentary propaganda against PM Modi. indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi had said on january 20 that its purpose is to present a kind of narrative, which people have already rejected. In our opinion, this is just a propaganda piece. After this, the government banned it on 21 January. The video of this documentary was removed from YouTube and Socialmedia after the order of the Central Government. Also, its screening was banned in India.
