The report submitted to the chief minister on june 27 was placed for the Cabinet's consideration on the same day. Then a survey was conducted on the impact of online games on school students. Subsequently, feedback was also sought from the public via e-mail regarding the impact of online gaming. Based on all the comments an ordinance was drafted to ban online gambling. On august 29, the cabinet meeting discussed the Online Gambling Prohibition Act. The Draft Online Gambling Prohibition Bill was further polished and approved by the cabinet today.
Ban on Online Gambling:

A committee headed by retired Justice Chandru, set up to ban online rummy games, submitted its recommendations to tamil Nadu chief minister M.K.Stalin on July 28. Subsequently, the matters contained in the report and the ban on online rummy were discussed in detail in the cabinet meeting on the same day, department-wise. In the 71-page report, online games, including online rummy, do not enhance the skills of those who play them in any way but instead work to reduce their skills. Online games are designed with the intention of making the players addicted and in debt. During the last AIADMK rule, online rummy games were banned on the grounds of the risk of loss of money, but they were overturned by the High Court. But this time, the physical and mental health of the public has been seriously affected by such online games. The state government has the right and authority to ban these online games for the welfare of the people and if it bans on that basis, the court cannot interfere.
Likewise, Justice Sanduru pointed out that 17 deaths have occurred in tamil Nadu in the last 3 years alone due to online games, and the main objective of the companies that run games including online rummy is to make a profit and not to improve the skills of the players. Hence, such games are not even eligible to be included in the list of games. While games are meant to strengthen the body and clear the mind, games like online rummy are the practice of playing through devices like mobiles and computers. The judge mentioned in his report that playing does not give them any kind of physical and mental refreshment, but rather stress.
