New variants of corona have appeared in many countries and experts have warned of its increase in winter. The BA.5.1.7 and BF.7 subvariants are reported to be highly contagious. Both these variants have the ability to spread rapidly and will be much more powerful than the immunity till now.
It is being told that in many provinces of china, from where the coronavirus started, two new variants of Omicron, BF.7 and BA.5.1.7 have been found. A warning is being given due to the increase in the cases of corona in winter.
Cases of B.5.1.7 in both variants have been found in the Shaoguan city of Guangdong province of china and BF.7 in the cities of Shaoguan and Yantai. The report states that BF.7 is a subvariant of the already existing variant of Omicron, BA.5 and has the ability to dodge immunity.
Danger from BA.5.1.7 and BF.7
The WHO had previously warned against Omicron's BF.7 variants, saying it expected it to become the new flagship version. According to data released by the CDC, BF.7 accounts for 4.6% of the total active corona cases in the US, while BA.5 and BA.4.6 remain the top two most infectious variants, with BF.7 in third place. Apart from these, BA.2.75 and BA.4 account for 1.8% and 0.8% of the total cases in the US. BF.7 is tightening its grip.
