8 Ex-Indian Navy Officers arrested in Doha...


8 retired officers of the indian Navy have been arrested in the gulf country qatar, including former Navy commander Purnendu Tiwari, who received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman on behalf of President ram Nath Kovind. All these officers were working in a private company in Qatar. According to sources, the indian Embassy in qatar is also aware of the arrest of these former officers.


According to the indian Express report, the information about the arrest of these officers in Doha came to light from the post of a woman Dr. Meetu Bhargava. In her message, Dr. Bhargava, who describes herself as an educator and spiritual person, postedon Tuesday. It is written that 8 Veteran Navy officers who have served the motherland are in illegal custody in Doha for 57 days.


The post addressed to prime minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs minister S. Jaishankar, Defense minister Rajnath Singh and Petroleum minister Hardeep puri and many others have. Urged all of them to bring the former officials of the country back to india without any delay.

Reason for detention not yet disclosed

According to the report, it is not yet clear why all these officers have been detained and what are the charges against them. However, earlier this month, officials of the indian Embassy in Doha were given a consular visit to meet all of them. The report said that an attempt was made to get information about this from Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson of the indian Ministry of External Affairs, but no response has been received so far.
