The odisha government reduced the number of fatalities from the three-train collision from 288 to 275 by claiming that some bodies were tallied twice. 187 unidentified bodies are currently a challenge for the local authorities to store and manage.

The bodies of 170 people who died in the Balasore railway disaster have been sent to the AIIMS, AMRI, SUM Hospital, capital Hospital, kims hospital, and Hi-Tech Hospital in Bhubaneswar, according to a statement from the government.
