The hyderabad municipal corporation-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>greater hyderabad municipal corporation (GHMC) is facing a serious financial crisis, rendering it unable to pay its staff this month. As the eighth day of the month approaches, the civic authority, which is reliant on revenue from the vast 650-square-kilometer capital city region, struggles to satisfy its day-to-day responsibilities.

Alarmed by the situation, Commissioner Ronald Rose allegedly sought aid from revenue-generating agencies in late November, aiming to gather up to Rs 50 crore. This cash was urgently needed to cover the interest on loans received by the ghmc for different city infrastructure projects. The ghmc needs roughly Rs 120 crore to give urgent assistance and permit pay disbursement. This cash inflow is critical for the company to get through the month.

According to an official, the revenue staff's involvement in recent elections caused a lag in Property Tax collection last month. The ghmc has presented a full report on ongoing projects to the government and is hoping for assistance to get through the current financial crisis. The GHMC's already difficult financial situation is exacerbated by the wage payment delay. The corporation's capacity to carry out critical activities and provide critical services is dependent on obtaining the required money in the next few days.
