In the recent sandesh Khali case, which has gained significant traction in the northern parts of the country, particularly in Delhi, the impact in the southern states has been relatively subdued. However, the issue has become a major flashpoint between the trinamool congress and bjp in West Bengal, sparking controversies at both state and national levels.

Sandesh Khali, located in the 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, witnessed a controversy as women alleged forcible land occupation by followers of Shahjahan Sheikh, a prominent Trinamool leader.  The women claimed they were subjected to sexual assault and one of them was raped when they questioned the land occupation.

The situation escalated when bjp leader and Member of parliament Sukanta Mazumdar attempted to visit the area, leading to a clash between Trinamool and bjp workers, resulting in Mazumdar sustaining serious injuries. The mp filed a complaint with the parliament Speaker, accusing the police of assaulting him.

Subsequently, the Women's Commission intervened by sending a committee to sandesh Khali, but they were obstructed by Trinamool workers. Amidst the escalating tensions, chief minister Mamata Banerjee dismissed the allegations as a pre-election ploy by the BJP. The Women's Commission faced criticism, with cases filed against the affected women, and in response, the police registered cases of rape and murder against 18 Trinamool workers.

The matter reached the supreme court as the trinamool congress questioned the visit of the parliament Ethics Committee to the state. The court, in response, temporarily stayed the ethics committee's visit. Currently, sandesh Khali is under an unofficial curfew as the situation continues to unfold.
