The telangana State Drug Control Administration (TSDCA) conducted surprise raids at nine blood banks in hyderabad on wednesday and thursday as part of a special campaign. For different infractions, they have all been handed show cause notices.
 

The TSDCA surprise raids were conducted at balaji -Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>sri balaji Blood Centre, nalgonda X Roads, Malakpet, Navjeevan Blood Centre, Kamala Nagar, Chaitanyapuri, Dilsukhnagar, avs Blood Centre, Lakdikapul, Rudhira Voluntary Blood Centre, Liberty Road, Himayathnagar, Prathima Sai Blood Centre, Old Lancer Lines, beside Srikara Hospitals, Secunderabad, Thalassemia Rakshitha Voluntary Blood Bank, Putlibowli X roads, Koti, Vivekananda Blood Centre, Ayodhyanagar Colony Blood Centre, Mehdipatnam, Nandi Blood Centre, Balanagar X Roads, and MSN Blood Centre, uppal X Roads, Medchal-Malkajgiri Dist.

During the special raids, DCA officers found deficiencies in blood testing, screening, overcharging for human blood and its components, calibration issues with some vital equipment, lack of technical staff with the necessary training, and incorrect maintenance of vital records like donor and master records.
 

Special DCA teams were tasked with testing donated blood for a variety of transmissible illnesses, including syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. Furthermore, the purpose of the inspections was to confirm the fees that blood banks received for both whole blood and blood components, including packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma (FFP), and platelet concentrate.
 
Display Cause The nine blood banks have been sent with notices for failing to follow departmental procedures.
