Rajinikanth, the superstar of tamil cinema, made a spectacular return with the box office hit Jailer. However, Rajini has moved on from this and now has to produce another winner. Lal Salaam, his most recent long cameo feature, was a box office flop. Additionally, things don't seem good for Rajini's upcoming movie, Vettaiyan. 

However, the much awaited news regarding Rajini's Thalaivar 171 was released today: the highly sought-after lokesh kanagaraj would be directing the picture. The project was declared today, and it was made known that the title would be disclosed on april 22.
 
First of all, having worked with TJ Gnanavel and aishwarya Rajinikanth, Rajini needs this type of combo right now. Right now, lokesh kanagaraj is the most sought-after filmmaker in tamil, therefore his collaboration with Rajini seems extremely promising. The monochromatic style of the first look poster may indicate that lokesh will continue to make the action plays with grey tones that he has been producing.
 
It goes without saying that Lokesh's recent drug and mafia-themed works are becoming formulaic. This was evident in the instance of Leo, where the movie fell short of expectations because it was set in the same universe as Lokesh's most recent release. To further boost the anticipation and create the proper expectations for the film, lokesh will need to address this important component of his film with Rajinikanth and deliver something new and intriguing beyond his tried and proved zone.
