In a frightening example, a juvenile girl was sexually attacked by a bike taxi driver after fleeing her home allegedly due to a disagreement with her parents. According to Tukaramgate police, the girl (16) fled home on the night of May 19 after her parents reprimanded her for chatting on the phone. Her parents filed a missing person report with the police that same evening.

The accused, a Habsiguda resident and bike taxi driver, was on duty when he noticed the young girl going along the street that night.

He duped her and drove her to Kukatpally, Kondapur, and Tank Bund before taking her to a lodge in Kacheguda after midnight, where he reportedly raped her and threatened her with grave repercussions if she informed anyone else about it.

The victim returned home the next morning and told her parents what had happened, after which they filed a police report.

The Tukaramgate police detained the accused, charged him with several provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), and placed him in judicial detention. The accused was booked under the POCSO Act, and sent for judicial remand. Stay tuned for more updates.
