The controversy regarding the origins and the true birthplace of the iron Age has been rekindled by a recent archeological find in tamil Nadu, which challenged the conventional wisdom that turkey was the first site in the globe to process and utilize iron. iron artifacts from 2953–3345 bc have been discovered by archaeologists at six locations in tamil Nadu, and new research indicates that the southern state was among the earliest places in the globe to process and utilize iron.

Where did the iron Age begin?
According to research by tamil Nadu's State Archaeology Department, the area's ancient inhabitants utilized iron implements and were aware of how to smelt iron as early as 5,300 years ago.  The capacity to smelt, which needs furnace temperatures between 1200 and 1400 degrees Celsius, was available and utilized by people living on the indian subcontinent.
 
 The significant finding raises the possibility that the indian subcontinent is where the method of mining, smelting, forging, and shaping iron originated, according to a BBC article.
 
 Namanu was gathered by archaeologists from the tamil Nadu sites of Adichanallur, Sivagala, Mayiladumparai, Kilnamandi, Mangadu, and Thellunganun.

The first known usage of iron technology in the globe dates to 2953–3345 bc, according to charcoal and pottery shards (of ceramic material) found in Sivagala.  Iron hoes, spears, arrowheads, chisels, axes, and swords were also discovered by archaeologists at various locations.
 
 The finding calls into question the long-held belief in archeological circles that the iron Age started in the Hittite Empire of Anatolia, where iron usage and smelting are thought to have first appeared about 1300 BC.  The tamil Nadu discovery, however, casts doubt on this idea and raises the possibility that the iron Age started at least a millennium earlier than previously thought by archaeologists.
 
Where did iron come from?
Early people first employed two forms of iron: smelted iron and meteorite iron.  Smelted iron is taken from iron ores that are found inside rocks and other locations on Earth, whereas meteorite iron is derived from meteorites that have impacted the globe over the ages.
 
According to scientists, the mass manufacturing of iron that began during the iron Age thousands of years ago was caused by the smelting of iron ore.
