Authorities on thursday quickly and symbolically destroyed the home of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Asif Sheikh, who is thought to have been a major conspirator in the 26-person pahalgam terror assault. Less than twenty-four hours after prime minister Narendra Modi promised a tough response, the demolition occurred in Tral, South Kashmir, a renowned terror stronghold.
 
As security personnel kept a close eye on the location, images taken from the scene showed bulldozers smashing apart the concrete structure, turning it into debris.  The move makes it clear to terrorists and those who support them that the indian government will no longer put up with providing sanctuary to terrorists.

In a speech from Bihar, prime minister Modi said, "India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backer… to the ends of the earth."  The demolition seems to be the first step toward implementing that resolve on the ground.
 
Asif Sheikh was under monitoring, according to local authorities, for allegedly helping to plan the Baisaran meadow ambush in pahalgam, which targeted unarmed tourists.  According to officials, the action to demolish his home was taken following anti-terror enforcement regulations.  

This action marks a turning moment in India's counter-terror narrative, which promises zero tolerance and speedy justice when emotions are high and the national mood is determined.
