Independence Day 2025 Updates: PM Modi to Hoist Tricolour at red Fort for 79th Independence Day Celebration


On august 15, 2025, india will commemorate its 79th Independence Day with prime minister Narendra Modi hoisting the national flag at the historic red Fort in New Delhi. This event marks PM Modi's 12th consecutive address to the nation from this iconic location. Preparations are in full swing as thousands, including special guests, senior government leaders, defense personnel, and athletes, gather to witness the ceremony and participate in singing the national anthem.


The theme for this year's celebration is "Naya Bharat" (New India), which aims to inspire a renewed sense of national pride and progress. The event will also emphasize the achievements of Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the april 22 terror attack in pahalgam, showcasing the nation’s resilience and strength.


In light of the significant occasion, security measures have been heightened to ensure the smooth conduct of the program. A day prior to Independence Day, the nation honored senior army officers who played pivotal roles in Operation Sindoor. Additionally, 23 members of the Central Reserve police Force (CRPF) received gallantry awards for their exceptional bravery during the operation.


On the eve of Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation, condemning the pahalgam terror attack as “cowardly and completely inhuman.” She praised the armed forces for their strategic prowess and technical capabilities in dismantling terrorist networks across the border.


As the nation unites to celebrate its independence, the atmosphere is charged with patriotism, reflecting India's commitment to progress and security in the face of adversity.
