Chennai:
Chief minister M.K. Stalin has urged prime minister Narendra Modi to immediately release pending funds for various railway projects being implemented in tamil Nadu. He also sought the Union Government’s approval for several new railway projects aimed at strengthening the state’s transportation infrastructure.
In a letter addressed to the prime minister, the chief minister highlighted that several railway projects of strategic and public importance are currently progressing at a slow pace due to delays in the release of central funds. He emphasized that timely financial support is crucial to ensure the early completion of these projects, which would significantly benefit passengers, industries, and economic development in the state.
The chief minister further pointed out that tamil Nadu is one of the leading states contributing to the indian Railways’ revenue, yet the allocation of funds for railway development in the state remains inadequate. He urged the Union government to adopt a fair and balanced approach in fund distribution.
In addition to seeking the release of pending funds, Mr. stalin requested approval for new railway lines, line doubling, and modernization projects. He stated that these initiatives would improve connectivity to rural and industrial regions, reduce travel time, and enhance passenger safety.
The letter also underlined the importance of railway infrastructure in supporting sustainable transport and reducing road congestion. The chief minister expressed confidence that the Union government would consider the state’s demands positively and take swift action in the larger public interest.
The appeal reflects the tamil Nadu government’s continued efforts to secure enhanced central support for infrastructure development and ensure better transport facilities for the people of the state.
