The Modi government has quietly handed mukesh Ambani’s Jamnagar SEZ refinery a massive tax waiver that’s straight-up jaw-dropping.
While the rest of us are still reeling from sky-high diesel and petrol prices at the pump, the government slapped export taxes of ₹21.50 per litre on diesel and ₹29.50 per litre on ATF… and then immediately exempted Ambani’s refinery from paying a single rupee of it.
Billions in profits shielded. zero impact on their bottom line. At the same time, the so-called “relief” for ordinary Indians? A measly ₹10 per litre cut in excise duty. That’s it. Crumbs. A tiny discount that barely moves the needle when you’re already getting crushed at the fuel station every time you fill up.

This isn’t smart policy. This is classic crony kings’ rule.
One of India’s richest men gets a full
shield on massive export volumes while the common citizen continues to pay premium prices to keep the economy running. The refinery exports fuel, makes a killing, and the
government looks the other way. Meanwhile, the guy riding a
bike to work or running a small delivery
business still gets hammered at the pump.
They call it business-friendly. Critics call it something far uglier: picking winners, protecting profits, and leaving the rest of
india to foot the bill.
When the powerful get waivers worth billions and the public gets ₹10 relief sold as a big win, you know exactly whose side the system is on. And it sure as hell isn’t yours.
