Coimbatore is weak to withstand two hours of rain!!!
Heavy rainfall in coimbatore for about 2 hours deadened the traffic and caused great inconvenience to the public. Heavy rainfall has been announced in tamil Nadu. This was followed by heavy rainfall in coimbatore for about two hours yesterday afternoon. In coimbatore, it rained at various places including the railway station, Gandhipuram, lakshmi Mill, Puliyakulam, Vadavalli, Edayarpalayam, town hall, and main shop street. Thus the traffic was paralyzed in all areas.
Especially the Kikani flyover in coimbatore, the Uppilipalayam flyover, and the flyover near the coimbatore government Hospital were jammed. Corporation officials are also involved in the process of draining the water. Similarly, the railway bridge over the coimbatore government Hospital was flooded to the point where vehicles could not move.
The Uppilipalayam flyover in the heart of coimbatore and the government hospital railway bridge were flooded, blocking traffic and leaving people stranded for more than five hours. Heavy traffic was reported especially on the Gandhipuram Crosscut Road. Each of the vehicles crawled. Similarly, patients and paramedics at the coimbatore government Hospital were in great distress due to the rain. If the city of coimbatore got paralyzed for just 2 hours of rain, the public has questioned what would happen if it rained continuously for 24hours. The government should take action to find a permanent solution. If not there will be major repercussions.
