The question in the Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) Class 12 first term examination paper has caused great controversy recently.

"Under which government did unprecedented violence against Islamists take place in gujarat in 2002?" That is the question.

The four preferred answers were "Congress, bjp, Democrats, Republicans".
The CBSE said in its official twitter account that the question was incorrect. "This is not correct. It is a violation of the CBSE guidelines. Strict action will be taken against the person responsible for this," it said.
Furthermore, a related twitter post said, "The CBSE has clear guidelines for setting up the questionnaire that the questions should be academic only. A question should be neutral on the basis of religion and class.

This question is not so. It should not be socially or politically offensive."

It is not clear whether the CBSE Board has clarified this on any site other than Twitter.
In this case, a CBSE official is said to have commented on the controversy.
He said the question about the 2002 gujarat riots was taken from the NCRD's Class 12 Sociology textbook.

"No state or region is immune from communal violence, and every religious community is more or less affected by such violence.

Two of the most shocking incidents of communal violence under the party are the riots against Sikhs in delhi during the congress rule in 1984 and the riots against Islamists in gujarat during the bjp rule in 2002, ”the official said.

Questions that arose against asking this question
When this question was asked and then it was said to be wrong, it sparked discussions and controversy. Some people think that the question is real and there is nothing wrong with it. Still, others say that only anti-nationals can ask such a question.

Narendra Modi was the BJP's chief minister when religious riots erupted in gujarat in 2002.

Gujarat congress chief spokesperson manish Toshi said, "The questions asked in the exam are usually asked from the syllabus. The lesson of this question is already in the syllabus.
The job of CBSE officials should be to make students aware of the true situation. They don't have to be careful about their boss's likes and dislikes, "he said.
