You shouldn't be concerned about allegations that this MERS-linked virus has a zoonotic effect, meaning it can spread from animals to humans. The last MERS outbreak was detected in 2015, and the World health Organization (WHO) stated in 2019 that MERS cases have decreased globally. NeoCoV is not a variation of Covid. So far, all we know is that NeoCoV is likely related to the MERS-CoV infection and has only been detected in bats. The MERS virus is a bronchial infection that can cause serious illness and has proved fatal in about 35% of cases so far.

Furthermore, there has been no evidence that any MERS-CoV-linked virus has transmitted among humans as of yet. There's been no human illnesses or deaths caused by NeoCoV anywhere in the world. The WHO, which detects and reports mutations and new virus epidemics, has been silent on the NeoCoV findings.
