Nilgiri district Collector Amreet told reporters that it has been confirmed that wild pigs have died of African swine fever. There is no chance of this disease spreading to other wild animals or humans, he said.Meanwhile, in a press release issued by the Cudalur forest department officials, it said that the sale of domesticated pigs in the Nilgiris has been banned until the series of deaths of wild pigs is resolved. Strict action will be taken against those who violate this, they said.
