Revealed in the report
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman revealed in his recent "Power On" report that this smart glass project of apple is currently being developed under the codename 'N50'. Apple's goal is for these glasses to become a true example of "Apple Intelligence". These will not be like traditional augmented reality (AR) headsets, but the cameras and sensors installed in them will scan the environment around the user and give data to AI in real-time. However, it will not give a complete AR experience.
Delay in smart glasses
However, this project is still far from being ready and is not expected to hit the market soon. According to reports, apple is facing a lot of technical challenges in finding the right balance between light weight, powerful features, better battery life and stylish design. Earlier reports had also come that apple may take at least 3 to 5 years to launch fully functional AR glasses.
Camera will also be available in AirPods
Apart from smart glasses, apple is also working towards making its AirPods smarter. It is being told that outward-looking infrared cameras will be installed in the new AirPods. These cameras will not be traditional cameras but will be based on infrared technology like the iPhone's Face ID sensor.
The main function of these new AirPods will be to collect data of the surrounding environment and send it to the AI system so that the user can get a more personal and interactive experience such as better spatial audio. Apart from this, with the help of these cameras, users will also be able to control music with hand gestures, take calls or enjoy AR experience.
