Who was Teg Bahadur?

Born on 21 april 1621 in amritsar from the womb of Mata Nanaki, Guru Teg Bahadur's childhood name was Tyagmal, who sacrificed his life while protecting religion and ideals. At the young age of 14, he displayed bravery in the war against the attack of the Mughals along with his father and impressed by his bravery, his father named him 'Teg Bahadur' (owner of the sword). To spread the message of sikhism, Guru Teg Bahadur traveled extensively in india and established many new preaching centers.

Why Guru Teg Bahadur was called 'Hind Di Chadar'?

Guru Teg Bahadur Ji sacrificed his life to protect religion and humanity. This sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur to protect faith, belief and authority had a tremendous impact which changed the history of the indian subcontinent. It became the biggest example of martyrdom given for human rights in human history.

It is believed that his martyrdom was the first martyrdom for human rights in the world, so he is respectfully called 'Hind Ki Chadar'. Guru Teg Bahadur, an embodiment of patience, renunciation and sacrifice, had meditated for 20 years.
