
A total of Rs 99,858.56 crore has been given to the Ministry of health and Family Welfare. In the 2025-26 budget, the government of india has taken some special steps to improve cancer treatment. The government will open day care cancer centers in all district hospitals in the next three years. 200 centers will be opened in 2025-26. To reduce the cost of treatment, basic custom duty (BCD) has been completely waived on 36 essential medicines for the treatment of cancer, rare diseases and chronic diseases. A concessional custom duty of 5% will be levied on six essential medicines. Apart from this, BCD has also been completely waived on certain medicines given under patient assistance programs run by pharma companies.

It has been at the forefront of starting new and better cancer treatments in India. It has cancer expert doctors, advanced research facilities and collaboration with institutions around the world.

NSG has expanded its network from 17 centres to 340 centres across states and union territories.
