Shahbaz Sharif's government hopes that the decision will help reduce oil imports. pakistan has to spend US$ 3 billion every year in importing oil.

273 million US dollars will be saved

The prime minister has ordered all government departments to reduce power consumption by 30 percent. To save electricity, a ban has been imposed on the production of such bulbs and fans which consume more electricity. Khwaja Mohammad said that the peak demand of electricity in pakistan reaches 29 thousand MW during summer. At the same time, the demand for electricity in the winter season is up to 12 thousand MW. Half of the street lights across the country will be kept switched off to save electricity.


Most of the electricity is made in pakistan from oil and gas.
