Varisu is directed by Vamshi Paidipally. He has specialised in family dramas during the past ten years, and this one follows a formula with high production standards. The film is completely derivative from the very beginning. The director plays to his strengths and delivers the absolutely well-known story with conviction, or, rather, he adheres to the pattern exactly without making any changes. The king, kingdom, and family are meticulously put up throughout the first part of the play.

Only here do we see a huge business structure, a huge residence, etc. The prince in exile, who arrives as the legitimate heir at the appropriate time, is another option. To the audience's dismay, the entire affair is done in detail. The speed is too slow. The focus is maintained the entire time by Vijay and his standard on-screen persona as a star. He is a great combination of the boy next door and superhero at the same time, which is good for the story. The fact that there is a history to which fans may relate contributes to bringing back the nostalgic feelings.

The second half also adheres rigidly to the model. However, several fan-pleasing moments and action interspersed throughout give it a minor edge over the first one. Again, there is nothing new here, and everything has been done before, yet Vijay makes it work with grace and elegance. Khushbu Sundar scenes have been chopped entirely from the movie due to editing and lengthy running time.
