The eagerly anticipated Ponniyin Selvan-2, the follow-up to Mani Ratnam's masterpiece Ponniyin Selvan-1, has shocked tamil moviegoers. The most recent rumour is that the movie's scheduled release date has been moved. The movie was initially slated to open in theatres on april 28, 2023, across the globe. On social media, however, a fresh rumour has started circulating that the movie has been put on hold indefinitely. The delay of the movie, according to speculations, is due to technical issues. The film crew hasn't made any public statements on the subject, though.

There is little doubt that this will displease the tamil community. The first installment, ponniyin selvan, was a commercial success in tamil Nadu and caused a sensation at the box office, earning 500 crores globally.
