On the one side, there is widespread speculation that South Asian remakes, including some huge telugu films, are not succeeding, citing the huge failures of Ala Vaikuntapurramloo, Jersey, and HIT as examples. Moreover, other remakes of Mallu movies, including Selfie, were not successful. Despite the blockbuster status of the originals, these hindi remakes had a terrible outcome.

And now Thadam, a tamil film, is getting another adaptation from the bollywood crowd. The telugu remake "Red," starring ram pothineni, is a resounding failure even if the tamil version of the original is a smash box office success. Even the audience didn't like the movie since the hero's double action, who just so happened to be identical twins who were split up at birth, didn't work out very well.

Even with knowledge of the telugu outcome, hollywood has now adapted it as "Gumraah," starring aditya roy kapur as the lead actor and Mrunal Thakur of Sitaramam fame as the investigator who attempts to crack the case. Vardhan Ketkar, a debutante, directed the movie, similar to how many bollywood debutantes actually do remakes. The remake of Karthi's Khaidi, Bholaa, starring ajay Devgan, is scheduled for release on march 30. As of right now, Gumraah will open in theaters on april 7, 2023. watch to see what develops with these remakes.
