RGV is back in form displaying the sparks of brilliance that made the first Satya film a trendsetting experience. With the Satya-2 he able to suggest a solution, no matter how implausible, to the current climate of desperate de-escalation of morality.  One can only applaud this flawed but riveting drama of the doomed and the dangerous. Film maker Ram Gopal Varma's “Satya 2", is notorious once again for his underworld-based movies. In an exclusive interview to film scribes on the eve of its release he says his film is as always an original concept and that it has no comparison to Satya-1 .’ It is not a sequel, please bear in mind when you write about it’ he repeats. RGV: Hi friends welcome to another RGV extravaganza. At the out set let me clarify that “Satya 2" is not a sequel to my 1998 gangster drama "Satya “ APHerald.com: Are you against the star system or you doing want to work with them? What is the reason for this rebel streak? RGV: I'm not against working with big stars. But my only contention is that working with a big star should have a big reason. The mere presence of a big name is not enough reason for a film to succeed.  I have been making films that don't require a star to sell it. Whenever such situation arises where I need to work with big names I would be the first one to do that. In Satya-1 I had starred J.D. Chakravarthy and Urmila Matondkar in the lead roles, but it was new comer Manoj Bajpayee, who walked away with accolades. Now in Satya-2 also I am l launching new faces, including Puneet Singh, who plays the main lead along with Anaika Soti and Aradhana Gupta. APHerald.com: Violence in films has suddenly become a favorite genre with you. Earlier it used to be just gangster themes. Do you agree? RGV: I love dark themes since they can offer rich cinematic experiences which a romantic or a comedy film might not entail. In mob and violent films you have to invent many ways to present the characters and you can flex your imagination to any extent in the portrayal of your characters or the incidents that place in the film. APHerald.com: Normally how much time you require to begin a film or a shoot with script, story line and a team? RGV: I always believe in spontaneity. I don’t believe in preparation. There is clarity in making films as a director. I believe in spontaneity. My team is always available to me and ready for any project I venture APHerald.com: You are known to be a very fast director in making films. How is that so? RGV: As far as speed is concerned I feel this is basically exaggerated. I think I take as much time as anyone else the world over. There are few film makers in Mumbai who take a long time. Even big budget movies in Hollywood, take eight weeks in principal shooting. Adding songs to our films would take another twenty days. I normally take seventy-eighty days for shoot. APHerald.com: One last question what made you do another Satya and name it Satya-2 if this is not sequel? RGV: I made this film because I felt there is lot to be said about urban violence which is not just gangsterism and there was lot of socio-economic roots for it grow and flourish .And about why Satya-2 , it is just a spontaneous idea that struck , nothing more than that. APHerald.com: Will you be making any more such movies on the same theme or others in the pipeline. RGV: You know me. I normally don’t plan anything. But as a film maker I always like to have a canvass to display the happenings in and around the society in what ever manner I could as I see it through my eyes .  Ok. Bye for now. Enjoy Satya-2, if you can.
